Dell Carter has been married to his wife Valerie for 42 years. They have three children: Velvet Arnold married to Mark, Jeff Carter married to Stacey and Danny Carter married to Carol. His hobbies include auctioneering and antiques.

He served on Henry County Road Board for 11 years and was active in Helping Hands and was also a past Scout Leader in Henry. He worked 19 years at BPU and retired in 1991 due to heart trouble and stroke.
